Job SummaryChemist-R&D: Under general supervision, assists in the development of new silicone materials and processes by conducting research, analysis, synthesis, and experimentation. Conducts long-term silicone research and development projects. Investigates process and product improvement for silicones.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Sets up and conducts planned series of experiments and analyses.
May write specific procedures.
Follows proper documentation procedures, including keeping up-to-date and correct records.
Assists in the scale-up of material from R&D to production.
Assists in the development of new process methodology.
Performs analytical and functional testing.
Brings routine and non-routine problems to attention of supervisors.
Interacts with department personnel in sharing ideas and results of various projects.
May have limited customer contact.
Must be regular and punctual in attendance.
Responsible for maintaining quality within the scope of the job description
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May train lower-level chemists and oversee their daily duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) in chemistry or similar science from four-year college. 1 to 5 years? experience as Chemist R&D at NuSil.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

For safety, the use of contact lenses for any reason, cosmetic or corrective, is prohibited on the production floor, in the lab areas, in the engineering shop, or while working on equipment. The company will provide prescription safety glasses with a current (under 12 months) vision corrective prescription provided by the employee.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must pass pulmonary function test in order to wear respirator.

In addition, a Chemist R&D employee must be able work independently (under limited supervision), meet deadlines, and communicate and give complex oral and/or written instructions. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
